YOU won’t believe this.
I put my green garden bin out for collection, as usual, on Thursday morning. The bin lorry came round after midday but missed my bin.
I phoned the council on Friday expecting help or an apology; no such luck.
No, the curt response I received was quite unexpected: “Because you’ve just told me that you put your bin out at 7.30am then we don’t have to empty your bin. You must put your bin out by 7am.”
“But the bin lorry didn’t come until after midday. My bin had been waiting for hours,” I said.
“It doesn’t matter.”
It was like talking to a parrot! No hint of apology, in fact I was blamed for the council’s failure. Unbelievable and illogical – that’s the council’s bonkers bin policy.
