WHILE I agree that people with problems concerning drugs and alcohol need help (Letters, August 15), I do not agree that IVF treatment should be made available on the NHS.

The NHS in my opinion is solely there for people who are ill; that is, suffering from something that is affecting their daily life and they need treatment to put that right.

I do not think that IVF treatment falls into that category as the person needing IVF is not ill, and the funds that may be used for IVF are being drawn away from other areas where need it the most.
