WHAT a pleasure it used to be to listen to BBC Radio York on a football Saturday afternoon and hear the unique presenting style of Barry Parker, alongside former York City striker Chris Jones, backed up in the studio by Sharon Shortle.
How disappointing it was last Saturday to find the programme format had changed (although fortunately Chris Jones remained). No explanation was given during the afternoon that I heard and no acknowledgement of the work done over many years by the other two, who have been replaced. I consider this grossly disrespectful.
It would be worthwhile to know why a successful formula was altered. I did first seek an explanation on Saturday from BBC Radio York, who promised to phone and explain but at the time of writing, no call has been received. I would want them reinstated.
