SO THE council is planning a meeting in September to discuss the subject of clearing the gullies and drains (The Press, August 8).
This is to safeguard against flooding and to allow rainwater to drain away. Has the council ever heard the saying “closing the stable door after the horse has bolted”? Maybe this should have a priority considering that we do have rain often.
The council keeps saying there is not enough funding for some things (drains) but it seems to find funding for less important issues. Maybe the council could can arrange another meeting. But then again that would probably be cancelled or delayed, as they often are.
