WHEN work started on the former Terry’s Chocolate Works site, we were expecting the first block of “show” flats to be ready for the Tour de France, with occupation later this summer.

Instead, many weeks ago work stopped on the four-storey timber frame and this week the scaffolding was removed, which indicates the brick cladding will not be proceeding any time soon.

Why is this? Can they not source the bricks or find any bricklayers? Or is it an “inconvenient” time to display what the building will look like until they receive planning approval for the rest of the site?
