VISITING York two or three times each year we are always amazed at just how many dog owners in York cannot read.
At the start of any part or the Bar Walls there is a notice which clearly states “Dogs are not allowed on the walls”.
We appreciate that this excludes guide dogs, but we have never seen anyone with a guide dog – only people with their pets, large (and we mean large) and small, who violate this rule.
We have never yet been on any part of the wall without encountering people with a dog and sometimes more than one.
If tourists were doing anything which could spoil other people’s enjoyment of walking around the walls, we are sure there would be an outcry. Please, obey the rule and keep the dogs off the walls.
