SO now that the railways are doing a lot better they are now saying prices will have to soar to pay for new trains (Plan to close little-used stations in county, The Press, July 20) and little-used stations closed down.
I would rather travel on 30-year-old trains than see our network reduced or huge price increases.
Just because the 125s are nearly 40 years old, they are talking of replacing those. They were the railway’s success story.
We don’t want our railways to have super-fast trains. What we want is less overcrowding on the trains and the trains to keep to the timetable.
