I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with you on your views expressed in the Comments column of the press (Are speed cameras a necessary evil?, July 30).

But these vans should be looking out for motorists who are really speeding, not motorists who are driving only three to five miles over the limit, which is very easy to do (unintentionally) on a clear, straight road.

I myself was charged with speeding and I was only five miles per hour over the 30mph limit on a clear, straight road.

On frequent occasions I have been overtaken at speed by some “idiot” doing well over the limit. Those are the people the vans should “clock”.
