I NOTICE the head of marketing at York Racecourse blames “wider society problems” for the violence in York at the weekend (Drunks put A&E under pressure, July 29).
He does not have to look too far to prove his point - the horse racing industry is highly dependent on alcohol (sales and sponsorship), gambling and the patronage of a wealthy elite.
