YOUR readers can say what they like about me missing the point about people complaining that York’s streets are in a mess (Derek Reed, Letters, July 25).
But if they read the recent letter from Peter Willey who has limited staff, working antisocial hours who do a fantastic job, then they should realise the problems involved.
Visitors complain, Mr Reed, but they are often responsible for a lot of the mess.
How do I know this, Mr Reed? I am chairman of the very successful Stamford Bridge in Bloom Group (two Gold Awards in 2013).
Living here, like York, we have masses of visitors passing through to Bridlington etc.
You should see Stamford Bridge early on Monday mornings, Mr Reed, until our two great street cleaners Dawn and Debbie get to work.
Like the York street cleaners, they are fantastic.
