IT IS astonishing that anyone could believe that condemning the massacre of civilians in Gaza is excusing the murder of teenagers in Israel (Letters, July 30).

Just to get things in perspective: this year, prior to the present holocaust, Israel had murdered 30 Palestinians and abducted/arrested/kidnapped more than 2,300.

The BBC never reported these events.

During this same period 180 rockets (as opposed to the delusional “over 700”) and three mortars were fired into Israel from Gaza and the West Bank with no resulting fatalities.

In June, three Israeli settlers were kidnapped and murdered. The BBC could report every detail of one sad event among thousands.

The rockets from Gaza began as a desperate retaliation for the thousands of Israeli incursions, air strikes, assassinations, blockades, sanctions and acts of piracy that became so routine, the BBC stopped noticing them almost immediately.

Contrary to the uninformed drivel peddled by the gutter press and some contributors to this page, many Jews in Israel have “put down their arms”, are refusing to take part in the present holocaust and are loudly condemning the Zionist fanatics who seek to create a religiously exclusive Israel with the blood of Palestinians.
