THE report highlighting the tragic deaths at York’s River Ouse, made for very sad reading (Report reveals drowning risk, July 26).
York has a beautiful river, but it has always struck me as being very deceptive. Walk along the riverbank and you soon realise that its current is a lot stronger than you think. Too many lives have been lost and many warnings have gone unheeded. Strong warnings need to be displayed in the city’s pubs and clubs.
Also there should be large warning notices about the dangers along the river bank.
