THE report in The Press of July 24 about the grant awarded to Stamford Bridge Swimming Pool contained a number of inaccuracies.
The most important one being that the pool was not and is not in imminent danger of closure.
We are in the process of refurbishing the pool and building an extension to reduce heat loss and make the pool more sustainable. Many swim schools use the pool to teach young children to swim and are continuing to do so.
We fundraise to improve the pool and help keep this vital facility open and viable therefore the realisation that the oil tank needed replacing was a blow, and we are grateful to Engage Mutual for funding the new tank. However, the amount granted to us was not £5,000 it was just over £2,000.
The pool is available for private hire and there is a family swim session every Sunday between 11am and noon. It is also open for adult lane swimming on Tuesday and Thursday.
