ED MILIBAND promises there will be no return to the tax-and-spend policies of past Labour governments.

The Labour leader says such a move would not solve the UK’s economic problems. He also says Labour would be more radical than in the past: freezing energy prices, raising the Minimum Wage, and building more homes.

Fine, but we have heard all this before. Labour in York have proposed a plan for more houses here. This does not make sense as all the prosed housing is on green-belt land As for Labour nationally, it’s the big unions who rule the party, and while they are hanging around Mr Miliband’s neck, he can say what he wants, but they rule the roost.

Tom Mitchell, Mendip Close, Huntington, York.

I think Mr Mitchell has been looking at the Daliy Mail again.

Look at the reality of Labour under Blair, Brown and Miliband - it's big business that's calling the shots, not the unions, big or small.

Miliband talks about freezing energy prices but it was his 2008 Climate Change Act that put all the Green charges on our bills and increased the number of people in fuel poverty.
Not a man to be trusted, just ask his Brother!
