I WOULD thank the three guys who helped me push my little yellow Audi out of a traffic jam in Fulford Road.

The age of chivalry has not gone; I thank you.

Not a big problem with the car, thank goodness, but apparently this happens often in this area because of the continuous streams of traffic on Fulford Road, nose to tail and in both directions.

I live off Broadway West, where the snarl-up starts; cars don’t get a good charge before joining the traffic jam and using first gear continually soon lose charge and therefore the cars conk out, as mine did.

Does the traffic light sequence need tweaking somehow? Although I appreciate that the public has to cross this road, surely this has been going on long enough to have this situation investigated. Not forgetting about pollution. Come on, Green Party members.

In the meantime I will continue to go round Broadway, the university, then on to Heworth: it’s longer but quicker and far more comfortable.
