RE the Tour de Yorkshire. We spent an enjoyable day in Bishop Auckland on Saturday, July 4, visiting our granddaughter.

The icing on the cake for us was seeing the French Gendarmes and entourage being escorted into Yorkshire by our own police.

A wonderful convoy of motor bikes. Pity we saw no photographs of the police arriving, in The Press. A sight never to be forgotten by us.

Watching television on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to follow the Tour de Yorkshire, some lovely scenery and well done to everyone who took part decorating the streets and villages across the city all the way to London.

Once again, take a bow.
