Publicity caravan

Published in Letters

IN THE Grand Départ supplement of June 30 I could find no mention of the Publicity Caravan, an integral part of the experience.

Whereas the peloton will be past any given point in a minute or so, the caravan will provide interest and entertainment for half an hour or more.

Lack of a mention in your supplement might cause many to miss a real spectacle. The caravan leaves Knavesmire at 9am.

The caravan taking half an hour or more to do what the cyclists do in a minute or so. I'm sure I'm regularly stuck behind this caravan!

Anyway... why the 2 hour gap between the caravan leaving and the cyclists coming through?

Presumably to avoid the possibility of the peloton catching up with them.

Must be a slow-moving caravan....
Anyway, the 2 hour gap between caravan and peleton is still sustained right the way around the course - looking at the official timings, even on the way into sheffield on the stage that matters (the one starting in York), the gap is maintained at 2 hours.
