THERE are many letters to The Press from people who have had a spell, for whatever reason, in York Hospital, whereby they thank the medical staff for helping them during their stay.
However, there are few letters mentioning the ambulance service. Having had to use the service myself, I realise just how fortunate we are to have such a marvellously efficient service available.
The drivers are invariably excellent at their job, being good drivers and highly efficient in patient handling.
There will be many patients who are too ill to realise when they are in an ambulance that they are in the hands of true professionals. So they possibly never think of how they arrived in hospital), thus don’t think to thank the ambulance staff after their recovery, the way they thank the other hospital staff.
I would like to think there will be many letters of support for the ambulance service when this is read.
Well done the ambulance service!
