CONGRATULATIONS to the Press for publishing letters about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
I was at first a little sceptical about the World Development Movement’s claim that there was a virtual media blackout on this topic, but my research has shown that this is no exaggeration and that it is only the local papers that have been giving proper coverage to this vital debate. If you read the details of some of the proposals for TTIP (and Wikipedia is one place you can find some), it becomes clear that for most European citizens this agreement forms a more immediate threat to our democracy than ISIS or Boko Haram.
There is one question which supporters of TTIP (viz. giant corporations and government insiders) need to answer – if it is such a good thing, why is it being negotiated in secret? Keep the spotlight on, The Press, as save us from this monster.
