I SUPPORT the comments made by Fulford Parish Council and Councillor Keith Aspden in regards to local residents being kept in the dark over the plans for Germany Beck (The Press, June 4).

A key problem with the development from day one has been the lack of meaningful engagement with the Fulford community. Local concerns over flooding, ecology, air quality, traffic congestion and heritage have consistently been ignored by the developers and by City of York Council.

Since the reserved matters application was approved last year, this seems to have got worse not better.

Coun Aspden’s calls for the Community Forum to meet have been rejected and now a key archaeological report will be decided in secret thanks to Labour and Conservative councillors.

In light of this, it is unsurprising that this week Fulford Parish Council voted unanimously to carry on with their legal challenge against City of York Council’s decision to approve the Germany Beck application.
