AS A young resident of East Yorkshire, I feel compelled to comment on the proposed 12 turbine High Wood wind farm, planned between Tibthorpe and North Dalton.

Firstly, I feel it is important to emphasise my passion for my local area and its visual and natural beauty.

The Yorkshire Wolds is a fantastic place to visit and to live with many businesses, including our own, seeing a great rise in tourism over the past five years.

International artist David Hockney inferred that he chose to paint the Wolds because of its “big skies and rolling open landscapes”. The openness, the very reason Hockney was drawn here is exactly what this wind farm will destroy.

This is not vanity. I shudder to think that if this planning application is passed then little stands between the big energy companies and making the Wolds like the Fens – mile upon mile of bladed turbines.

I must stress that I am hugely supportive of renewable energy developments, involved myself in carbon accountancy, I want to make the world a cleaner, brighter place.

However, I do not believe that ruining our vistas is the way to go about it.
