IN THE interests of democracy and social cohesion, we should be grateful to everyone who took the time to register their vote in the European Election on May 22.
I should particularly like to thank the 10,645 York people who voted Labour. Your votes mean that we now have two Labour MEPs for the Yorkshire and the Humber region.
Linda McAvan will continue the excellent work she has been doing in the European Parliament, and you have also secured the welcome return of Richard Corbett to the role of MEP.
Linda and Richard are committed to using their experience and knowledge to represent all residents of the region in Europe.
I know they will be pleased to hear from any York resident who would like to contact them.
Viv Kind, Chair, City of York Labour Party, Sefton Avenue, York.
