Here’s how to make this bin label stick

Green bin sticker

Green bin sticker

Published in Letters by

M SIMPSON (The Press, May 4) tells us their green bin sticker is peeling off already.

Ours started to come off the day after it went on. Well done, City of York Council, for another complete waste of taxpayers’ money.

I have a solution, though, which a retired teacher friend of ours shared with us: “sticky back plastic”.

Cut a square a good bit larger than the sticker, peel the backing off, and use the clear backing to cover your sticker. Ours has remained stuck down, even through the heavy rain this weekend.

S Boyne Sycamore Avenue, New Earswick, York.

Remember the temporary ones they used to stick on your bin to tell you when it would be emptied on bank holidays? Mine are still stuck on five years on!!!!

Shush, you don`t even live in York.
Point being for those that do, stickers peeling off means bin wont be emptied without said sticker.

Just make a complaint every timne the sticker falls off... if enough people do that, the council will realise the futility of this 'bright idea'

I’m actually surprised engineers were not called in for such a detailed solution to a complex problem. I mean who would have though using sellotape to stick something down...

Did no-one involved with this sticker scheme think to...you know...actually try them out for a couple of months before printing thousands and sending them out?
To see if they actually stayed on the bin as required?
As soon as I saw them I thought "that'll peel off in a few weeks" and it's already nearly off my bin.

.... because after a few downpours the rain will get under the sellotape too!
