FIRST impressions of a city are often formed by visitors within a short time of their arrival.

Is it too much to ask, therefore, if the pavement from the railway station to Lendal Bridge, which skirts the cholera burial ground, could be swept?

The amount of cigarette detritus littering this area is a disgrace and nothing short of a good sweep with an old fashioned broom will sort out the problem.
