I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Ms Brader regarding the change to the exit from the A166 onto the Grimston Bar Roundabout (Letters, April 18).

I am in the fortunate position that I do not now use this junction as much as I used to, as it appears to have been designed by an idiot.

Unfortunately my wife still has to.

To dedicate one lane out of two for use by those people travelling from Murton to Elvington (yes – those are the only people that are going to use it) is halfwitted at the very least.

The majority of the traffic will be heading to Leeds or York, so why restrict them to only one lane of the two available?

There cannot be a safety reason for this – in fact, it is more dangerous to use now as there is the serious risk of law-abiding drivers being cut up on the inside by lunatics who are happy to flout the rules of the road for the sake of a few seconds or minutes.

The previous design of the junction was confusing enough for some (those who can’t drive or read road signs) but this latest incarnation takes the biscuit.
