Care for birds

First published in Letters by

NOW it is that time of year again when blackbirds swoop across the road to distract from their nesting sites, often getting killed, as one can see when driving around.

A little less speed can save many of these lovely song birds. Also try to avoid lighting bonfires at this time of spring as the smoke can drift into hedges on other nesting bird places causing suffocation of young nestlings.

A little thought and care will go along way to help our garden birds that are in decline.

Is this serious? Slow down to help the blackbirds!!? The author clearly has to much time and too much twitching...

Harsh. Letter writer cares about nature, maybe the world would be a better place were more like him/her.

Blackbirds are more resilient than the letter writer implies. Bake some in a pie, open it up and they're still singing
