I AM dismayed by headlines in The Press about the “dangerous rivers”.

The rivers are not dangerous if treated with respect and common sense.

I do hope our enjoyment of the riverbanks is not spoilt by fences, etc. The Ouse is the jewel in our crown and we often think how privileged we are to have such an asset in our beautiful city.

I’m afraid you will never stop tragedies. As the old saying goes: “When beer’s in, wit’s out”. It is still true today and always will be.
