Dictator disgust

First published in Letters by

I WAS shocked and disgusted to read Paul Bowes’ view about “The EU dictatorship”, as he phrases it, in particular about the German chancellor Angela Merkel’s attitude towards Greece and Italy (Letters, March 15).

How on earth you can even contemplate to compare today’s German politics with the Second World War is beyond belief and just wrong.

Sadly a lot of people turn into swivel eyed loons as soon as Europe is mentioned.

Mr Bowes letter was very crass, and almost immature in its content.

Its .not the germans fault they are doing well economically. The southern european eu membership have got themselves in a mess, and they are being assisted by the more prudent northern nations who pay their taxes.

Whether we like it or not, Germany is trying to lead Europe by the fact it has the best economy and so can partially support the rest. In essence they've 'bought' Europe and have kept the receipt, unlike their previous attempt where they tried to 'steal' the rest of Europe for themselves.

York Fox says...

Germany is the most powerful country in Europe, and the richst and of course it holds sway over the politics of the EU. The EU is also a dictatorship, in that unelected mandarins make las which affect us all with zero accountability. Don't forget, you never voted to join, you never voted for the people that lead it, and you never voted for any of these laws.
