I DRIVE to Leeds every day on the A64 and see drivers taking unnecessary risks, and not driving to the conditions on the road.

If you have passed your test you should be able to know what effects the weather conditions should have on your car and yourselves.

If you are always late, the simple answer is leave five or ten minutes earlier.

So if it’s rain, snow or fog please adjust your driving style to suit.

Going 70 just because that’s the speed limit isn’t adjusting nor is driving close to the car in front.

I have a young family and I like getting back to them after work safely.

Snow affects visibility as well as handling, so driving at 70mph isn’t suitable.

Rain affects visibility as well as car handling, so driving at 70mph isn’t suitable.

Standing water can cause aquaplaning like driving on ice.

Fog affects visibility and increases thinking time.

Please take note. And as the weather becomes nicer, look out for bikes, bicycles and horses.
