FULFORD Parish Council has asked me to make clear that there has been no new decision to reject the parish council’s legal challenge against City of York Council over the Germany Beck development. Our appeal is before the courts and a decision is awaited.

The article (Housing work at Germany Beck to start, The Press, February 24) related to an entirely separate legal action against English Heritage, brought by archaeologist Chas Jones.

The parish council and local groups are actively raising funds to continue the legal action and I hope that residents did not get the wrong impression from the article.

For details of our Germany Beck Fund please see: fulfordparishcouncil.org.uk

Coun Keith Aspden, Vice-chair, Fulford Parish Council, Main Street, Fulford, York.

As a local resident, I support Fulford Parish Council in their legal battle against the ill-conceived plans to build on the site of the 1066 battle of Fulford, with housing within the floodplain and on green belt.

For images of the devastating impact caused by felling of trees and hedgerows at Germany Beck yesterday see facebook.com/helpsav
efulford or follow twitter @helpsavefulford. It is NOT too late to support Fulford Parish Council in their efforts to reverse a planning approval that goes against all planning guidance. Help us stop the proposed raised junction and access road across the old ford of Fulford, the site of the 1066 battle of Fulford.

im from norway and recently visited york for the viking festival.
i am horified and upset by the city of york council and there attitude over this historic site.
do they realise that this is affecting people across the globe.....
the battle of fulford site should be left alone for future generations.
its as important to heritage as stamford bridge and hastings.
i truely hope this project can be cancelled, and so do many of my Scandinavian friends.
its upsetting.

Again another decision by York city labour council.
They seem to decide what they want to do themselves and ignore the York people's views. Too Many times this has been the case now.

It would be nice if for once if building at Germany beck was cancelled.the council would gain more respect by admitting they had been wrong to build on the battle of fulford site.

good luck with this, once built the houses will be snapped up by private landlords who will house students or people on benefits, lowering the tone of fulford!

There's guaranteed to be a cycle track to the university.to me its more accommodation for university students.the university's taking over York.which means many of these new houses will not pay council tax.
