EAGLE-EYED readers of The Press have clearly spotted me in the act of scribbling (Letters, February 21).

All I can say in my defence is that I do not scribble my ideas on the back of an envelope, whereas in fact I can be caught doodling most days of the week. Research shows that far from being a waste of time, it’s a good way of remembering things.

Yours, scribbled in haste.

Coun James Alexander, Labour Leader, City of York Council.
