IS IT the policy of the bus companies to instruct drivers not to ask passengers to move down the bus to avoid congestion?
Travelling into and out of York on the No. 5 bus, we witnessed several passengers, mostly youngish girls, giving the impression that the bus is full, when in fact they are standing both sides of the aisle at the front of the bus and in front of the sign which specifically asks passengers not to do so and there are seats available. When others are getting on and off the bus, even without wheelchairs, walking aids, pushchairs or shopping trolleys, they are hindered and delayed. Does common sense not form part of their make-up?
