Green sky thinking gone mad. Six charging points across the city for electric cars (The Press, February 17) were used fewer than 60 times in a full year.

Why doesn’t City of York Council react to demand rather than wasting money trying to create demand that nobody wants? How much has this ideologically driven scheme cost so far?

Sixty fill-ups in a year could be just one electric car owner with his own filling stations at his disposal.

If transport cabinet member Dave Merrett had been around when the first cars were invented, he would have been calling for a motorway network to be built immediately to satisfy his projected use of this new wonder machine.
