IS it only me? I know it’s not. The information pumped out by the anti-Lendal Bridge brigade does not add up.
Now the city income has reached a new high of £600 million (who gets that, traders?); visitation is up six to eight per cent; Park&Ride up six to eight per cent; hotel accommodation up too.
Bus firms support the bridge closure, as do taxis.
All this is taking place with the bridge being closed: so what is the damage to our city?
I travelled by car from Haxby to York Station in rush hour – no problems. It seems people are not willing to go around. Drivers who flout the rules should be fined.
Up to now I have not seen any harm to the city; we are all in it together.
