I SEE James Alexander is once again getting excited about personal remarks made about councillors (Letters, February 8).

I felt that Coun Cuthbertson (Letters, February 6) was asking some relevant questions about the money being spent in York.

Unfortunately, James Alexander avoids answering these important questions and attempts to divert the attention. So could he please tell us exactly how much his “economic infrastructure fund” (King’s Square, Arts Barge, etc) is costing us each year in interest and repayments?

Where is the money coming from? Is this revenue income that could have been spent on essential services such as gritting roads?

As we have already had a number of accidents on previously gritted roads, people’s safety must be a priority.
