LOOKING at the financial situation of North Yorkshire County Council and its public transport cuts in the most isolated areas of the county, I can only see as a support measure – and not an alternative – for people to run community transport schemes.
People could run their own services under what is called a Permit 22, running a fleet with a board of trustees as a registered charity and under the guidance of the Community Transport Association.
Taking on board the responsibility of meeting the transport needs of their community might be something to consider.
