EVERY year in the UK around 19,000 cyclists are killed or injured in reported road accidents. To improve road safety we believe it is vital that all vehicles using our roads are designed to the highest safety specifications.

Very soon the European Parliament will vote on proposals concerning the weight and dimensions of lorries, including new, lifesaving designs of lorry cabs and improved vision for drivers.

With goods arriving in the UK every day on lorries from across the EU, it is vital that we act at a pan-European level. We want all lorries on our roads, regardless of where they originate, to be safe for all road users.

This call to improve the safety is backed by cyclists and the road haulage industry, recognising that these changes will make a real difference.

We hope that all Members of the European Parliament will vote in favour of making our roads safer.
