I CAN’T but admire the selfless way so many volunteers gave up their precious time to ensure we all had an interesting, enjoyable time visiting some of York’s many attractions during the residents’ weekend.
I only visited a few places, having already seen most over the years. But the Red Tower, All Saints/North Street’s tile floor, the stained glass at St Martin-cum-Gregory, Micklegate, and half an hour’s boat trip to name but a few were a new experience for me – not to forget a two-hour free swim at the impressive Sports Village. It can’t get much better than this. Who said the weekend was a wash-out? Not for me – the sun shone brightly throughout. Thank you to all who made it possible.
