Aliens would view humans as liabilities

Aliens would view humans as liabilities

I AM not surprised at the weather we are having. Scientists have been warning us for nearly 50 years and nobody would listen.

But what does surprise me is the younger generation are not protesting; it is their matter as much as ours.

I think the way we are abusing this planet is selfishness and greed beyond belief.

These ignorant politicians and heads of state should be made to watch the film The Day After Tomorrow every night. The film is not altogether fiction; a lot of research was put into that film.

There won’t be a Terra Nova waiting for us and if there is alien life they wouldn’t have us because we are a liability.

Don't you worry Robert, the Aliens are not going to get you.
You make a good point though with regard to 'The day after tomorrow.' The film where the Earth quickly froze over. There is some evidence of that coming with increasing summer Antarctic ice extent and then at the other end, record low temperatures in China, Mongolia, Russia, Canada, USA and even India!
Maybe you are concerned about high winds, caused by the jet stream, nothing we can do about that, all a part of natural variation. Then there are the floods. Well, rainfall has been much higher in the past but with less damage to property. In the old days we didn't build on flood plains, have green belt targets for ever more homes and of course drains were maintained along with ditches and the rivers were dredged.
These days it is easy for the PM to suggest it is 'climate change' to blame and we will need to tax you more to tackle it. Yeah right....
Maybe the people will wake up the day after tomorrow?

I saw a superb cartoon showing two guys looking into a field with a giant alien crop circle of a bicycle. One was saying to t'other "Do you think they're trying to tell us something?"

The Day After Tomorrow was one of the worst films I've ever seen. To use that terrible fiction as your model for pleading your case in a letter is as bad as using Cheech and Chong to plead for cannabis law reform.

Honestly I've never heard anything like it. Why force those in power to watch a cr@p film? Why not show them some cold hard fact?

I need to make the point that even those on the "warm" side of the AGW debate will say that "weather is not the same thing as climate". Also if Robert is genuinely concerned about Man's impact on the climate he can make an impact by (if he has one) getting rid of his car, plus his computer since it contains several toxic metals. He can also stop taking foreign holidays on gas guzzling aircraft.
Alternatively he can get on with his life and not worry about things which are none of his concern? Certainly he should not base his world view on Hollywood disaster movies.

The Day After Tomorrow was overly americanised, doom-mongering, al-gore-approved, overblown and unrealistic. It makes a decent catastrophe film, but anybody who actually takes that film as a realistic vision of what will happen should be medically castrated and not allowed to breed.

As has been said, weather and climate are two different things. Whilst being eco-friendly to save money (using LED's instead of conventional light bulbs, cycling instead of driving, etc) can be looked upon with acceptance - going out of the way just to be some pius eco-nutjob is quite another. I have no problem with people living their life being overly eco-conscious, but once such people start telling me what I should do with my life THEN I have a problem with them. I apply the same principle to religion vs aethism, the gay rights movement etc....

Anyway, best advice for the ltter writer: go back up to the loft and put on your foil hat.
