Difficult to swallow

York Press: . .

DOES Matthew Laverack (Letters, January 2) not realise, when commenting on poverty and alcohol consumption, that many of us need at least 15 pints of beer to achieve his level of indifference to the genuine poverty that capitalism is creating in one of the richest countries on earth?

15 pints of Beer? Now I know how RM gets in the mood to dream up his letters to the Press.

Incidentally, 'one of the richest countries on Earth.' Don't forget to subtract our debt from GDP, then you might find that we are in fact quite poor.

At the rate the UK wastes and gives borrowed money away, there is only one way down. Just don't kid yourself.

I wonder how Mr Laverack feels about an economic system that encourages some people to commit fraud by making multiple illegitimate benefit claims under other people's names?
