Up to the job?

York Press: Up to the job? Up to the job?

IT WAS interesting to learn (The Press, December 26) that City of York Council is to appoint an assistant director of transformation and change at a salary in excess of £66,000, and this was approved by the council’s staffing matters and urgency committee.

This post is to replace one which has a direct, frontline, role. Oh, and this role is so important that the council is not seeking new talent, but is recruiting from within the existing staff, who obviously have not transformed and changed enough to now require this post.

I don’t think even George Orwell could have thought of this! No doubt our council tax will rise in April to pay for this nonsense.

Neil Raw, Oriel Grove, Clifton Without, York.

Since this new job is created for our benefit and on our behalf, I would be interested to read the working history of the fortunate recipient, to see what values and experience of life will be working to improve life for me!

I don't see much evidence of this from authority these days!

This post is very interesting as it comes straight after the statement from Alexander warning everyone of major cutbacks to services in the New Year, not surprising though from York Councils elected and unelected servants.

I hope they don`t think they have us fooled for one minute.
About time KE made comments to this paper on what she is doing with our council.

Or the one who makes the multiple thumbs down on any anti council comment maybe? Could any normal person be bothered to do that? Grow up.
