Up to the job?
IT WAS interesting to learn (The Press, December 26) that City of York Council is to appoint an assistant director of transformation and change at a salary in excess of £66,000, and this was approved by the council’s staffing matters and urgency committee.
This post is to replace one which has a direct, frontline, role. Oh, and this role is so important that the council is not seeking new talent, but is recruiting from within the existing staff, who obviously have not transformed and changed enough to now require this post.
I don’t think even George Orwell could have thought of this! No doubt our council tax will rise in April to pay for this nonsense.
