The write stuff
HAVING taken The Press for more than 50 years, one of my favourite pages is always the letters page.
I have tried often to put words together on the same subject as John Nursey on the revamped King’s Square (December 19), as I am in complete agreement with his every word, and no doubt I am not alone with these thoughts.
I have many family members visiting from overseas and I find myself constantly explaining to them while taking them round the city “this used to be like, and this used to be like...”
Enough of all this cheerfulness, at least our beautiful York Minster still stands in all its splendour, and I must admit the newly refurbished frontage enhances the area beautifully.

• EDITING the Letters section must be a demanding job with the enormous volume of letters received over the year.
I applaud the editor for his interest in this readership section and his letter writers for making the column an interesting one for all involved.
I wish a happy new year to all staff.
Keith Chapman, Custance Walk, York.
