York Press: Temperatures rising Temperatures rising

GODFREY BLOOM’S claim that UK energy prices are amongst the highest in the free world is misleading because it is based on pre-tax prices.

Consumers care about the total price, not the pre-tax price. By world standards, UK electricity tax is very low, so despite the high prices charged by our electricity suppliers, consumer costs are below EU average.

Mr Bloom also claims no global warming has occurred in the past 18 years. Have a look on Wikipedia: there’s a NASA graph showing clearly that the last 18 years have included the hottest 17 on record, 12 of them this century.

Five-year running average temperatures have risen about 0.3 degrees in the past 20 years, and another 0.3 degrees in the previous 20.

I care most about the price I pay and growing costs out of our funds, which the government are raiding to satisfy the greed of their pals (the richest) means LESS FOR ME AND MORE FOR THEM!

It's wrong "for the hard working majority".

Oh dear Alan, never use Wikipedia as a reference, it is not allowed by any academic institution I know of in the UK. It is possible to manipulate data on such a site, just as what happened at the CRU and in the case of James Hansen's 'Hide the decline' tree ring data. Also check out Queen's University, Belfast, for their part in this scandal.
You can kid us all you like with micro climate of 0.3 of 1 degree, be it F or C. It is not noticeable so is this what you call climate?
People won't forget the coldest December on record in 2010, where temperatures went down to -22C in the UK and never rose above freezing point.
We can look at 2013 as having the coldest Spring in more than 50 years too. Then what about the cool wet summer’s between 2006 and 2013?

Up to date and what about the AGW alarmists, including a couple of Guardian global warming journalists stuck in thick Antarctic Summer ice! BBC radio appears to have put a news black out on this since the Australian ice breaker also failed to get through.
Alan, I suggest you get yourself to the Arctic or Antarctic and see the extent of Summer ice with your own eyes in real time, then perhaps you won't be taken in by suck propaganda.

As for energy prices; just how is taking coal power station Eggborough out of the system going to help with energy reliability and keeping costs down, taking political carbon taxes out of the equation?

Stop press news: The Global Warming activists are going to be rescued by Chinese helicopter as soon as conditions allow it to fly.
Reminds me of the Catlin Arctic alarmists in 2009 who had to be rescued from the ice, by aeroplane on that occasion. They got just over half way before they found their instruments wouldn't work at below -40C and conditions too harsh to cary on.
Just like the current bunch of carbon phobics, they must have had belief in their own propaganda.
Can'r wait to read all about it in the Guardiam. Must be the spin of all spin!!!!!

while the uptick last year may, and i mean 'may', herald the start of a recovery, it looks like 'reversion to mean' to me.

time will tell....

Latest is that the Chinese icebreaker may be stuck in the ice too. That being the case there will be no helicopter rescue from that ship.
Remember that max Summer ice melt happens in February, statistically in Antarctica.
If not free after that, it looks like some more debris for the Antarctic sea bed.
How green is that?

Perhaps Alan should use Fox news as a source like ColdAs did a couple of weeks ago for his climate Change denial nonsense. After all, coming from the same stable as the Sun and the News of the World, you know you've got a reliable and truthful source. When you turn to the Murdoch empire the words honesty, truthfulness and integrity always spring to mind.

Talk about kettles and pots!

Looks like the Chinese Icebreaker with the chopper is stuck and the Australian Icebreaker can't get through ice that thick.
No worries, a powerful Icebreaker of the USA is on the way.

I checked for this story in the Guardian today, it was way back in the centre spread. I couldn't see any apology for getting it so wrong. Perhaps they are working on explaining how a warming climate can be so cold? There are two Guardian journalists on the stuck in the summer ice, Russian ship.
Would you credit an editor who would send two staff on a propaganda (gone wrong) jolly?
The trick is Jonthan, pick out the facts and not the could, if and might.

That's funny, In my Guardian its not way back, it is the centre spread and over two pages, an amazing photo, and by far the biggest coverage of any item in the issue. I never noticed that they got anything wrong. Do you want them to apologise for not being flat-earthers?

Look up weather. Then look up climate. Very different critters.

But lets cut to the chase, what does the Sun have to say about it all

I did say the centre spread Jonthan and I don't read the Sun.

Weather and climate are the same thing with a minimum 30 years of data.

But tell me, how come Mawson got through on that route 100 years ago and now, with all mod cons and even Icebreakers they can't get through. Nothing flat earth about it, just being real. If it's not melting in Summer it's not melting.

OMG, the letter write believe NASA!! well I might as well go hit my head on a wall.... it is known globally that global temperatures have been roughly the same for 14 years - and whilst the MET office and respectable organisations have amended their climate models, a yank from NASA said "it's just numbers, it doesn't mean anything" - which is probably reflective of their education system.....
