York Press: Bah to the ‘blandness’ Bah to the ‘blandness’

MAY I just say how much I agree with S Smith’s letter concerning King’s Square (The Press, December 19).

It would have been even nicer if not only the trees were lit up but also a Christmas tree with lights placed in the centre, to take the blandness away.

I imagine the excuse will be that the council could not afford it. Bah humbug, as Scrooge would say.

Well this city's christmas lights are pathetic anyway. Some might say "conservative", but the real-world term is BORING, or Lacklustre. Seriously, have a dozen little LED trees on Stonegate, two LED gantries in Parliament Street, some LED attachments to lampposts from the rail station, half a dozen LED gantries along Blake Street and Coney Street, and a single tree in St Helens Square, and that's it.
