I SHOULD have thought by the number of letters about the 20mph zoning that have appeared in The Press opposing this idea that the anti-car brigade on the council would have dropped it by now.
Anne Semlyen would like to include Nunnery Lane and Gillygate in the scheme. She doesn’t appear to do any research before putting pen to paper.
As for Fishergate, where she lives, she seems unaware that the area has been a 20mph zone for the past three years?
As for the Government giving Cambridge taxpayers money to introduce the scheme there, this still doesn’t mean it is working there without doing a bit of research.
Now is the time to bombard Coun Dave Merrett’s website about repairing the potholes in the roads. I did suggest six weeks ago that the council pursue the utility companies to repair the damage they leave behind, but that too has fallen on deaf ears.
