I READ and listen to the uninformed and baseless comments of individuals and members of the press who like to criticise anyone in public office.
We are so very fortunate to live in a country with members of Parliament and city and local councils who work hard, and work very long hours for so little financial reward.
It is too easy to shout about high earnings and useless public servants without really thinking about what it would be like without them.
I have a friend who is a councillor with City of York Council and I know how hard she works and how little financial reward she is given.
She does it because she believes in what she does, like so many others. I would never be in politics because of the loud, thoughtless nonsense that people shout about our politicians.
Just carry on with all this bitter and unfounded criticism and you will end up with what you deserve, which is representatives who can afford to be in positions of power because they have money.
What will you moan about then? That only people from wealthy backgrounds are in positions of power?
