I SEE... So while the current Government decrees that nought to one per cent pay increases in the public sector is the norm (possibly less in the private sector) for this Parliament and the next, MPs are to get a pay rise of 11 per cent from 2015.

Just which planet do our MPs live on? Can each MP within the scope of the circulation area of The Press say whether, if reelected to Parliament in 2015, they will accept this rise, or not. Failure to respond via The Press, in my mind, equals yes.

• THE inflation-busting pay increase for MPs may have been formulated by an independent body, but none of the 650 members of the House of Commons are forced to accept it. They could decline the increase or donate it to charity.

I would like our MPs Hugh Bayley and Julian Sturdy, together with all known Parliamentary candidates for 2015, to publicly state their intentions with respect to this increase if they are fortunate enough to be elected. Will they take it or will they show restraint? We need to know before using the ballot box because we are all supposed to be “in it together”.
