I FAIL to understand as to why employers should pay staff for bereavement leave. It would be especially hard on smaller employers and a total nightmare for larger ones.

As I found at the loss of my dear husband and only living close relative, my brother, a year later, that the discipline of work and normality were the answer to carry on.

Who is going to give an employer paid leave? Who dreams up these ideas has obviously never been an employer or they would not be so glib at the suggesting such.

We all feel sympathy at other’s loss and our own, but common sense must prevail.
