OUR Prime Minister is trying to fool us into voting Tory with a referendum promise, while at the same time fighting to stay in the EU. In other words, he wants to look both ways for political gain.

We are about to be inundated by hundreds and thousands of eastern European layabouts coming to live off our welfare state – or so UKIP would have us believe.

Immigration gets a lot of people hot under the collar because we are fed a load of rubbish by the national newspapers.

Before we can be sure of who to believe, we must be given the unvarnished truth of the situation in the EU. At the moment the net number of immigrants coming into this country is increasing, but certain facts must be considered.

The number of people leaving the UK has dropped to its lowest level since 2001 at only 320,000 and the number coming from Europe has increased dramatically: from Italy up 52 per cent; from Portugal up 45 per cent; from Spain up 40 per cent and even from Greece an increase of 31 per cent, non of them Romanians but still still immigrants, but seemingly more acceptable. I wonder why?
