Loving the marathon
I WANT to say how much I have enjoyed reading your coverage of the Yorkshire Marathon in York. I also enjoyed the coverage of the York 10k, a very good run indeed.
Some of the tips you have included have been very useful for day-to-day runners.
Like most of the fundraisers taking part in the marathon, I have no real story to tell. But I am sure readers and runners would agree that it is harder and harder to find sponsors When I first ran a marathon nearly 20 years ago, most people were eager to donate. But now with so many charities seeking support, it is harder to raise the funds just to cover the entrance cost.
I will be running for the Jane Tomlinson appeal, which offers a lot of help and support to local charities. Also, the races and events it stages are very good for normal runners and non-fundraisers.
I will be running the marathon in a gorilla suit. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated (‘eat more bananas’ not included).
